Thread for BSMD Applicants 2019

@NoviceDad @mkuma00,

Yes, the Miami HPME program no longer exists. It used to be a 6 year combined program (2+4), then it became a 7 year (3+4) combined program, and it’s now totally phased out, w/the last class having entered the program in Fall of 2016. It is now the Medical Scholars Program (MSP), which is more of an early assurance program:

This is separate from the Health Professions Mentoring Program:

One of the FAQs is “Does the HPM Program guarantee acceptance into Miller School of Medicine?
No, students are not guaranteed acceptance into Miller School of Medicine.”

@motivat - see my post above #4944

I got rejected from NU undergrad… does that mean I’m rejected from HPME too? I went to an interview in Feb for HPME but haven’t heard anything about BS/MD yet

Unfortunately, @anotherbrownkid, yes, it does mean that.

@Roentgen

Can you please give your perspective on UMKC to @mkuma00 ?

@anotherbrownkid

It is other way for my D/S as got accepted in NU undergrad but rejected for HPME interview

Typically if your rejected or waitlisted from NW UG you’re basically got rejected from HPME

But if you’re accepted to UG and applied to HPME not opted out of HPME you have high chance of been admitted to HPME

I never seen before HPME results got this delayed by a day after UG admissions released yesterday

I searched this thread for info regarding Temple University’s Health Scholars Program, but did not find much. Does anyone have any experience with this program you would be willing to share?

@Yogarani73
Please reach out to @grtd2010.
His D is at Temple

@Mimic17
What does the HPME Director have to say for this?

@Yogarani73 There is an active parent whose child is doing BS/MD at Temple. May be she is on travel or busy since have not seen her posts recently.
Are you researching for next cycle or you got admission this cycle?

@GoldenRock my son recieved admission this cycle.

Thank you! @grtd2010 - any information you could pass on would be helpful!

What does the HPME Director have to say for this?
:smiley:

Thanks @OldSchoolMD and Congratulations to all who got accepted including @DSOF20192023 @medgirl6, @OldSchoolMD

@rk2017 @OldSchoolMD @motivat @NoviceDad @bsmdbamd

Thank you for for your wishes. As mentioned just to clarify that my D got into BU only not BU SMED Program.

Since all BS/MD options closed for us, my D is considering BU as one of the options for premed.

@Mimic17, @NoviceDad - in past years, have HPME results typically been announced the day after NU undergrad results?

@ebird At SD interview, they said results 3/28
