Can you please name a few tier 2 universities in Canada and the U.S.A?
I have a c.g.p.a of 2.75 and I know I can do well in G.R.E even though my undergrad performance is a bit weak.

How can I improve my chances of admission?

And do Tier 2 universities get you good Jobs?
Thank you.

You didn’t mention what program, what field of study you are in, whether you are going for a master’s or PhD or what you even mean by tier 2 (below top 20? Top 50? Top 100?). Whether or not tier 2 schools get you good jobs depends on what you mean by “tier 2” and what field you’re in.

Thankyou juillet for replying.
I have a bachelors in computer engineering.
and want to got for masters in CS or software engg preferably at waterloo though considering its reputation it might be wishful thinking. But it is my dream.
Do i stand any chance?
how can i improve my chances?
By tier 2 i mean 50 to 100 univ.

Wistful thinking… most universities have a 3.0 GPA cutoff to even apply. You will literally be able to count with your fingers the universities that will consider you.

Try the CalState system (even if you don’t live in California). They are not tier 2 and you have no chance at any of the decent ones, but these are the only universities that will consider your application and offer your major. Unfortunately, your GPA is very close to not qualifying you for graduate study.

The thing you have to realize is that 2.75 is the minimum GPA required to apply. Just because you can apply doesn’t mean you’ll be admitted. I’ve seen the GPA distributions of some 2.75 minimum GPA colleges and they’re still over 3.0 GPA average.

There actually is a chance for you to be admitted to a graduate program and it will be largely based on your undergraduate research. This is the most major component of your application.

(GRE scores will not salvage your application. Practically all engineering majors get close to Q800.)

Loads of UK/EU unis will accept you. They dont care so long as you can pay. I had a guy on my MA program from India who couldnt even speak English. He was a wicked cricketer though and waltz onto the university first team. We won loads of games that season.

I played some games for the 2nd team and 4 games for the first team [I was way out of my league in T1]. So be good at a sport and come on to the UK.
