Time for a 2023 baseball championship/playoff/world series thread

Oh, wow! I would love to go to a playoff game some day!

If it makes you feel any better, my bff is a Dodgers fan and was at last night’s game. She said that she witnessed history, just not the kind you want to see. When the game was 9-2 today she said that she felt for the Orioles fans at the game. But the Orioles didn’t roll over like the Dodgers did. The announcers kept talking about our horrible bullpen, which is the reason I can never relax no matter how big the lead.

Surely to goodness that gaudy yellow Quikrete patch on the Braves’ jersey violates some kind of rule. It should be a 2-run penalty.

WOWOWOWOW!! What a game!! My DH is at the game and is very glad he stayed ‘til the end!!! I am home with The Voice on TV and the baseball game on the ipad!

What is this world? Can’t believe the Rangers pulled off a sweep. My dad would be so excited. I would give anything to go to another game with him.

Tremendously inspired baseball by Texas. What a difference by an experienced manager and players.
Congrats to them, enjoy.

Let’s hope the Rangers keep form against the (likely) Astros!

I can’t stand the Astros. I’m hoping the Twins win. Though beating the Astros would be delicious.

Go, Rangers! Even better … all my Astros fan friends are SALTY about this win. I don’t get why.

Lol, maybeAstros fans think Altuve was safe in the 8th and shouldn’t have been called out. But it is the rule.

One friend derided the Rangers and alluded to “what happened in 2017.” The only thing I remember about 2017 is that the Astros were caught cheating. I’m not sure what the Rangers did that year. We have never won the World Series. Quit being so greedy, Astros!

From Sports Illustrated, “ The organizations, however, haven’t exactly been best buds over the years. The Astros accused the Rangers of leaving the team and city of Houston in the lurch in the wake of Hurricane Havey in 2017. The Rangers disputed how the Astros characterized the situation and the teams played a neutral-site series in Tampa Bay. And then two weeks ago with the AL West title on the line, the Astros’ social media account took some thinly veiled shots at the Rangers’ celebration in Seattle after clinching a postseason berth.”

There definitely is no love lost. I couldn’t open that first story but found another one that addressed it.

"As well, the Rangers announced that they will donate the proceeds from their Texas 2 Split 50/50 Raffle to the American Red Cross from all three games of the upcoming home series with the Angels that starts Sept. 1.

“It’s possible the Rangers could’ve been a bit more accommodating, yes, but they have interests to protect, and their reported willingness to let the Astros keep the revenues from a series in Arlington shows they were being reasonable in their efforts.”

As I said above, if I were an Astros fan I think I would avoid talking about the year 2017.

Texas! Wow!

The Nationals alumni are doing well in the playoffs this year – esp Harper, Trea Turner and Schwarber.

Mad Max pitches tonight for the Rangers; I wonder if he’ll retire after this season. The injuries just keep piling up.
