Time Lapse Between UW and Honors?

I was accepted to the UW today, which came as no real surprise; what I'm really concerned about is getting into the Honors program. I have received nothing one way or the other from the Honors program. Should I expect a decision relatively soon, or could it be months before I know for sure?

I think a current student said on here that they didnt hear until during the month of april. (yeah, im bummed too)

but someone feel free to correct me if i'm mistaken

I got a little yellow postcard from UW Honors a few weeks ago that said my honors application is complete (they received my letter of rec and it's placed in my file) and ready to be reviewed once I was accepted to UW. I got my acceptance letter last Friday, so hopefully they'll start reviewing my honors app soon...

Congrats on getting into UW! They'll start reviewing your Honors app soon, and hopefully you will hear back sometime in the next month or two. Don't be surprised to not hear back until April though. When I applied two years ago, I heard back from UW in February and from Honors in April.

It could be any time, though. My S's friend got into Honors about a week ago.

I got into the UW about three weeks ago, and just got into Honors the other day. So a little less than a month time lapse here.

Is it like at Ohio State where if you are in honors, you get to register for classes before everyone else, so you have much better options for classes?

Hmm. I got a decision just to the University on 12/20 and an acceptance to the Honors Program 2/2 (according to past posts.)

So I'd give it about a month.

Hm. I got into UW late in December, I got the yellow postcard around the same time, and I haven't gotten anything else from them yet. That's about a 1.5 time lapse so far.

MidwestMom2Kids_, no, UW Honors students don't get priority with class registration. What Honors students DO get though are choices for Honors courses. These are courses specially designed by professors that do not have to follow any certain guidelines or procedures from any departments. Basically, they get to teach what they're passionate about.

Honors students have to get an add code from the Honors office in order to sign up for any of those classes. Seniors get priority with class selection, so their add-code day is first, followed by juniors the next day, and so on. Other than the Honors add-codes, Honors students register normally like other students on campus. If anyone is interested, check out <a href="http://www.washington.edu/students/reg/addpolicy.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.washington.edu/students/reg/addpolicy.html</a> for more info on registration guidelines.

I should add that Honors freshmen will register for their Autumn 2008 courses during their Advising & Orientation session so these guidelines probably won't mean as much for you until you start registering for Winter 2009 classes.
