I'm currently a freshman in high school, and I'm absolutely terrible at time management. In a typical day, I would like to go to school, go to any clubs that are available, do my homework, read/study, and still have time to do other hobbies. I wish I was this competent at time management, but right after I get home I take a nap until about 5, and I end up putting my homework off to 9 or 10 PM. Any tips or advice to fix this would be amazing. Thanks

My first suggestion is, figure out how much sleep you need and make sure you get it. You will be much more efficient if you are getting enough sleep, and teenagers are famously sleep-deprived. If you have to nap when you get home from school, you are too tired. Aim for at least 9 hours of sleep. Most teens need 9 1/2, though they often don’t get it. If you get up at 7, this means lights out at 9:30. Try it for a week: you will probably be amazed. You can then do the homework during the time you are napping after school.

My second suggestion is, you may be trying to do too much. You may just plain not have time during the week for clubs and other hobbies. Pick one or two clubs/hobbies and let the rest go during the week. Save the rest of the socializing for the weekend.

Thanks, that’s probably a sleeping pattern I should emulate. Hopefully now I can be more attentive during the day and avoid daily naps.

OP, how’s the sleep going? I hope you’re getting more shut-eye and noticing a difference.

Don’t spend hours on this website like I sometimes do when you have an English paper due (Actually my current situation ;))

LOL. ^^

egelloc, I had a trick I used when I was stuck on a paper and up late at night (if not due the very next morning). I would read over the prompt immediately before going to bed, and ask my brain to figure out the paper while I slept. I often tossed and turned some, but it was amazing how often I woke up with at least the beginnings of an outline. It helped to put a pen and paper by my bed because sometimes I’d wake up in the night with a thoughts that I wanted to write down quickly.

Good luck on the paper. :)
