Does anyone know about what time of day Stanford usually announces its admission decisions? If we know, we can save around a thousand dollars in airline tickets.
If you’re curious as to why, keep reading. Otherwise, just let me know if you know the typical time. Thx!!!
Here’s our situation: My son’s school break is the last week in March, ending on April 1st. We’re taking a family vacation to California during that time. We can only visit Stanford on the last day of the break (April 1st), due to other obligations in CA.
If Stanford usually announces its decisions in the early morning of April 1st, then it would be worth buying the more expensive afternoon/evening tickets to fly home (because if he finds out he got in, we could visit the campus that morning, or not visit it, accordingly). On the other hand, if Stanford doesn’t announce its decision until, say, 11:59 pm on April 1st, we might as well just buy the cheaper, early morning tickets home on April 1st. It’s true that we could just visit Stanford during the day on April 1st while not knowing if he got in, but then we’d visit the campus, take the expensive flight home, only to find out, “Guess what? You didn’t get in,” in which case we’d wish we’d bought the cheaper tickets, and come home earlier. (Either way, we’re going to buy the tickets now. We just have to decide if we should buy the tickets for an early flight or a late flight.)
