Tinder and the Dawn of the “Dating Apocalypse”

Ugh, is this for real?

Not all Tinder meetings are one night stands. My niece met a guy on Tinder that she has dated for several months. She was just getting over a bad breakup and I was worried about her… Glad she found someone new who seems like a nice guy. Now, I didn’t ask her if she hooked up with him right away, she is 24 and it isn’t my business. But just saying that some relationships do start with Tinder.

I’m probably just oblivious as usual, but I see articles like this fairly often and they bear no resemblance to the world I see when I go outside. It’s like reading Brave New World.

Sure, it’s real for those people.

For the majority of people, no. I’ve been hearing the same crap since before I even left for college ~7 years ago. Apps change but the exaggerated story remains the same.

Hook up culture is not a thing any more than it was decades ago. It’s just a buzzword that gets people to click links… And it’s very effective at that.

Omg young people are having casual sex! Marriage is doomed! No one will ever date anymore because now we can just find a guy willing to hook up via an app.

Seriously this ranks as one of the most pompous millenials are strange articles I’ve ever read.
