tiny problem

Sorry guys but I can't help asking this.
I forgot to include my name, email and the topic itself on my Why NU essay. is it going to hurt me in any way ?

Probably. They’re gonna assume you are not a careful person, but it’s too late to change now, so just hope for the best.

Can you re-send it properly formatted, with an explanation?

^ Agree. I sent them a fixed copy (made a few mistakes) before the November 1 deadline and was accepted. You still have 12 days. Re-read it, edit it, ADD what they’re looking for, and email it to them with a short explanation.

Don’t worry about it. I totally forgot to do that for my ED app and I still got in!

My D forgot to title her why NU essay and she got in. At least you discovered your mistake. I feel like it will have minimal impact but I would fax over the corrected version ASAP.

just wondering, how long should the why NU essay be? mine is definitely on the long side at around 1000 words. It is very detailed but not full of fluff. Should I cut it down? They don’t give a limit but I still think it shouldn’t be too long…

mine was 521. i tried to be straight to the point  and frankly I did not have too much to say since I’m int’l and don’t get to visit NU

yeah, I guess I got a little carried away with my research and was really detailed. I feel like everything I wrote was relevant though. Do you think it will hurt my application?

they don’t indicate a word limit, so it’s supposed to be okay. but considering the thousand applications that adcoms have to read through, an essay of around 1000 might give them a sigh. maybe you should trim it down a bit

mine was 499 words.
i think 1000 words is definitely too much.

What are you talking about?

You don’t need to put your name.

You don’t need to put your email.

Titles are optional, not necessary.

You don’t need to write too much. Everyone can write 1000 words, it should be something special that pertains to you specifically and even if other colleges have it, why does Northwestern having it make it so special? (I wrote 358 words, and got in)

^ " Northwestern Statement (required)"

“Type your name, birth date, and email address on each sheet.”

“Note which item you are addressing at the beginning of each statement.”

I believe this is what they are talking about…
