Tips for Critical Reading?

english has always been a struggle and I still stuck in the mid 400s.

I've tried silverturtle's guide, xiggi's, and other popular methods. But none seem to work
I only go up or down 50 points at most when i try either of the methods
I need a method/style that can really help me boost up my score like 100 points or something... I've tried finding my own but none seem to work.
are there other ways of improving english? if you have a personal way, then pleaee share it. YES YOU. the person reading this right now. please! :)

i also find that marking up questions before reading is a time consumer and i don't want to do any of that B.S. it takes forever to set up everything.

Just read anything and everything you can get your hands on. Think about the passage, why the author uses certain words. Answer the questions over passage based reading on college board’s website. When you actually take the test, annotate the passage as you go. Try not to skim aimlessly! That’s what I did, and it worked. Best of luck! :)
