This Saturday, I will be taking my first two SATII tests in my high school career(I’m a sophomore), the Math II and Chemistry. Generally speaking, I’m “ready” for both of them, however I intend on getting the closest to a perfect score possible, and while I have a tutor, when I drop a concept, he usually responds with “I don’t know”, or “you might just have to give that question up”. My main problems I have in math are in the geometry sections. I currently take Precalculus, so my knowledge of geometry has faded. My biggest problems within geometry are things like hyperbolas, ellipses, and rectangular prisms (specifically finding diagonals and what not). With my chem, I took a practice test yesterday and got a 700. Every single point that I got off was because of a question on lab work. My chem class does do labs, but not many. Additionally, I am lacking memory in the colligative properties unit, and need some work there. Where do you recommend I start, and what are the best recourses I can use to ensure a high 700 or 800 on both. Thanks.
This post is confusing. You seem to have a very good idea of what your weak areas are. In your shoes I would not take the tests this Saturday. Do more studying of those areas and then take them. There is no magic trick that is going to help you get an 800 in the next few days.
I don’t think I’m going to back out of taking them this Saturday, if I really don’t like my scores, I simply won’t submit them to colleges. I know I know my weaknesses, I was looking more for advice as to where to go for study tools.
You should check and make sure that the colleges you plan to apply to don’t require all test scores. I suspect that if the school requires or recommends SAT 2’s, it may well require all test score too.
But if I do poorly on one of the exams, can I not just retake it later down the line?
Get all the questions right, or at least as many as the cutoff for an 800. Other than that, there is no magic formula.
Yes you can. Whether that is the best use of your time is a different question.
Get some practice tests. Barron’s Math 2 book is pretty tough in the last couple practice tests. If you do well in the practice tests, then you have a good chance to get great scores. Unlike SAT1, most students would just take it once.
