Tips for successfully obtaining a noncustodial parent CSS Profile waiver?

Hi guys,

I’m a senior applying to colleges and am beginning to worry about getting my noncustodial parent’s information.

Basically, my parents got divorced in 2011 and my dad fled to a different country to avoid paying child support for three kids. I have not had any contact with him since and he has never paid any money to support us. My mother tried to take him to court again over the lack of child support but he never appeared at the court date.

Apparently he remarried and now has another young child. We found this out because he is getting divorced again and his ex-wife somehow contacted my mother. We also found out that he has been claiming me and my siblings on his tax forms and telling the court in his country that he has been paying child support to get some kind of monetary benefit. According to his ex-wife, the amount he has received over this tax fraud is upwards of 70k.

I feel like my whole situation is so complicated and I don’t fully understand it myself. Without considering my father’s wages, my family is considered low-income and I even applied for Questbridge. If I am unable to get the waiver I don’t know what I will do.

So I guess if you guys have any tips for getting a noncustodial parent CSS Profile waived successfully, I would appreciate hearing them.

Did you figure it out? Documentation is most important. Gather any divorce decrees, child support, etc. Ask your doctor/ teacher/ social worker/ guidance counselor for a letter.
Explain everything you just wrote above and more!!!
