Tips for UC Berkeley EECS

Hello!

1.) I’m about to start community college next year and I am hoping I can transfer to Berkeley from there. I am staying at Diablo Valley Community College for 3 years and then hopefully transferring to Cal’s EECS program.
I’ve read that it is really hard to get in.
So far:

  • My goal is to have a 4.0 GPA or something close to it
  • I know C++, Objective-C and Swift.
  • I have won 1 hackathon and have been to bunch of others already
  • I’m planning to get couple of internships

What can I do the next three years to improve my chances?

2.) I moved here from Europe 4 years ago. I’m finishing high school this year. I’m not considered an international student but I am foreign.
Does this matter when applying to Cal?

Any help would be GREAT!
Thanks!

There is a transfer forum, more information from previous year acceptance to Berkeley.

http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=DIABLO&ria=UCB&ia=DIABLO&oia=UCB&aay=14-15&ay=14-15&dora=EECS indicates that DVC CS 210 and 260 are equivalent to UCB CS 61B and 61C, which can put you ahead of where most intended transfers to UCB EECS and L&S CS would be, assuming that you take those courses. If you can get to Laney during a term when it offers CIS 61, then you can cover UCB CS 61A as well, according to http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=LANEY&ria=UCB&ia=LANEY&oia=UCB&aay=14-15&ay=14-15&dora=EECS .

Will you be a US citizen or permanent resident and a California resident for tuition purposes at CCs, UCs, and CSUs?

Thanks! And yes I will be considered a CA resident for tuition purpose.
