It is quite grueling to see more than one U in a day, especially if you plan any tours. More than two in a day and you’re likely to have meltdown, unless you & the kid are much more resiliant than we are. If you’re just driving around the campus, that’s one thing, but if you’re going to be walking and going on a tour, it is draining.

Good luck! The photo suggestion is a good one to help keep the various campuses straight as they can start to merge in one’s mind after college #5+.

We were traveling a long distance so did more than one a day. S is very easy going and it was fine. In fact, he and H went on a trip and saw 17 schools in 9 days, although some were drive by’s. They also threw in sight-seeing expeditions.

Don’t forget the study abroad opportunities, or student research! Or the ID card that gets you in your dorm and you swipe at the dining hall! And you can use some of your meal points at the on-campus convenience store.

S was impressed by the school that did your laundry for you (Davidson) and the endowed desserts at the University of Richmond. But he picked the school that owns its own island (Bowdoin).

If you haven’t left yet, don’t forget your EZPASS if you have one and are going on toll roads. I forgot ours when we flew out east over spring break. Missed a couple of tolls in the rental car (confused by the GPS, I had an excuse – one time I was so reliant on the GPS I didn’t even know what state we were in so I could follow up and try to pay online!). Am just getting the bills from the rental car agency now for the missed ones. So pack the EZPASS if you have one.

Haven’t read the whole thread so apologies for any redundancies.
Totally agree with the suggestion that you arrive in the towns the night before any morning tours, if at all possible. Also, try to combine tours with visits with friends in the area. We tried to eat dinner with old friends whenever possible. Makes your child feel a connection there.

Talk to students- in the cafeteria, student center, etc. Get a feel for what they are like and if they are happy.

Sample the food and see what fast food is available on/near campus.

Write down notes afte the visit. They will all run together, especially if you are doing 2 a day for multiple days.

I also agree about having folders by day and schools that day. Include your travel info, hotel info , school maps, etc . Be sure to find out ahead of time about the parking arrangements. They vary a lot from school to school. You dont want to be searching for a spot or get a ticket.
