Tips on my schedule

Hey guys, I’m an 8th grader and I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have about my freshman schedule. My district is kinda weird because it keeps freshmen in the middle schools, and then sophomore through senior year takes place at the actual high school. (so middle school here is grades 7-9, the freshmen are still tought HS curriculum though.) and it also doesn’t offer ap courses to any 9th graders.

Anyways, when I was choosing my schedule I was told that the max ammount of credits we can have is 7.0. When choosing my classes(not being able to remove the required courses like math, science, etc.) I was told I could either add 6 minors, 1 major and 3 minors, or 2 majors. When all said and done, my schedule came out like this:

English 9 HP

America in History 2 Honors
Geometry H
Physical Science 9 HP
French 1
PE 9
Health 9
Gifted Sem 9
Exploratory Bus
Fcs Minor

Chorus 9

(Note: gifted sem 9, PE 9, and chorus 9 are all minors that switch out between different days. FCS, Health, and exploratory bus switch out between marking periods)

All of this totalled out to 6.8 credits, the most I could have gotten while keeping French as a major since its a requirement for some colleges im interested in to have 4 years of a foreign language. Anyways, I’m a bit confused because I’ve seen other peoples schedules on here and I haven’t really seen any people with these “HP” courses my school has, and I was just wondering what’s going on there. Im completely oblivious to this topic, so any feedback is appreciated, especially from anyone in a school district with this same policy. Thank you!

Each school has different types of classes and schedules + the way your school does things will be included in the school profile. It looks like your schedule maximizes learning opportunities while keeping up rigor and requirements. It is well balanced.

It’s really well balanced, and I agree with @MYOS1634. There’s nothing you really need to change.

About Health and P.E., a lot of schools have kids do it, so I feel you. It’s required in freshman and sophomore year in my school county no matter what. However, some counties allow kids to skip out on P.E. if they are part of a school sport, which is why you may see less people with P.E. Also, many school districts do not require kids to take P.E. junior or senior year, like my county. It’s okay to take P.E., especially if it is required.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. Best of luck and have a good day!
