Tips on Reading and English? 36 scorer wanted!!!!

I got a 30 ela on the september test but im striving for more.

How can one improve english and reading? I read multiple books and sites, but they re all recycled information. If theres anything new or risky that might work, its better than what i have now.

I got 32 and 30 in english and reading respectively. But i want my reading to rise to a 33-34. Am i screwed? Does that kind of ability require years of experience or can i do it in 4 days? I havent studied for this upcoming test but im winging to superscore.

Im sure everyone who struggles on the ACT most likely struggles with reading the most. Follow if you want to get some outside info

I got 36’s on English and Reading- the best way is to do practice sections and test and go over EVERY question- don’t just correct the answer, but write down WHY that’s the write answer, and what the ACT wants. Once you get a handle on what the ACT is looking for in answers, it get easier. If you have a little more time, read the Black Book (I didn’t but many of the strategies I told my friends from my studying with the red book were apparently also in there)

Great! I ll check it out.
On english, Im usually very strong in grammar and the kind of english needed for the “english” portion. But i got a 32 by missing 3 questions, so I’m guessing the test was very easy. Anyway, some questions just do not make sense. Half of my wrong answers are silly mistakes just from the anxiety of taking a timed test. But for the other ones, I check the answer key and thoroughly read the explanation, and I understand why it is right, but how can I prevent that in the future? I think i have done enough practice tests. If it requires good english skills, then all I can do is hope that Im focused.

Erica Meltzer’s ACT English Guide. Helped me get a 35 on the English section. Specifically, her book helped me with the rhetorical questions and the very complex grammar ones (namely dashes).

Thanks!! Props to your 35, thats nearly impeccable.
