I'm going to be a junior in high school this fall and would like some tips on what the UT admissions officers look for in an application.

For example: Should I be focusing on my grades more than studying for the SAT and ACT?

Not looking for much. Just asking for tips and tricks so I will be prepared come time to apply for UT.

Thanks in advance! If you want to talk to me privately then please message me.

If you aren’t top 7%, get there. That may mean focusing on grades for you. If you are already comfortably in the top 7%, I think you would do well to work on the SAT/ACT to further set yourself apart.

The bealonghorn website contains info about how they look at applications (especially holistic review outside top 7%)
Remember some colleges require certain essays or certain documents included with application.

Apply super early and to an easy major to get into

I will be applying as early as possible (next summer). I wish to major in computer science but I know that I won’t be able to get into that school directly. What majors do you recommend I apply to instead? How does changing majors actually work?

We’ll depends on stats choose CS first then your second major shpuld be liberal arts or undecided

I think you can request a change of majors online through My Status page of UT Direct during the process of admission review.

Early preparation sets yourself from the rest! SAT/ACT scores, what his your history of extracurricular in and outside of high school, and also if you have any volunteer experiences, include that as well! When it comes to the essays when applying, make sure you submit all prompts instead of the required. That extra effort goes a long way! Also, when talking about the major that you wish to study in, don’t hold back in elaborating why you wish to study in that field and how it influences your life in a way!

I hope this helps a bit! It is a great school and I have enjoyed my journey here! Those were the tips that I used when applying and got in. I wish you the best of luck! Hook Em’ and work hard!
