I have been accepted to my dream school, TISCH School of Arts of NYU under ED2 Program. I have been accepted as a “Photography and Imaging” major and I am very interested in getting to learn other mediums since photography is just one of the medium i use to express my world of imaginations. I want to get to learn film classes as well as photography classes and I was wondering If thats a viable option for me. I’ve asked a friend of mine who is currently attending NYU and according to his words, as long as I’m in the same Film department which I am in, I will get to take different photography and film classes and declare my major in my junior year? However, I do not know If he knows what he is talking about since he is not in TISCH. Will film classes naturally be viable options for me? After learning Film at TISCH as a photography major and I realize that Film is the medium I really want to use for my art, is it possible for me to just change my major from Photography major since they both belong to the same department? I am just curious of how I can experiment and explore different mediums of Art at TISCH.
Amazingly, although you list NYU Tisch as your dream school, it doesn’t look like you’ve done much research.

Most majors have defined required courses for each year, plus your General Ed requirements.
Although your major is within Tisch, there are different departments and your major is in a different department from the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. Your major is in the Emerging Media Group. If you want to change your major to Film & Television Production, you will have to apply for a transfer which is doable. My d knows kids that transferred into the Film program from other Tisch majors. If you don’t want to change majors, certain Film & Television courses are open to non-film majors.
