^Its a pity how everyone is always talking about maintaining the communal harmony sidelining the larger historical context of the problem. Its a pity (on a larger scale) that people actually are passionate(stupid?) enough to run riot in the name of religion.

Ayodhya verdict plays safe.Ah,well, that was to be expected.Plus the Judge retiring tomorrow wants to assure a safe retirement. jk!
Today was really cool, all bulk sms facilities were blocked and the atmosphere was really high strung! In the middle of my math tution,a student got a call from her father on the outcome! And after that,we spent about 8 mins discussing the decision in class!!

I still remember the day Babri structure was dismantled. Hope for peace.

The Ayodhya verdict, in my opinion, is the first step towards an evolved India.

No signs of trouble anywhere throughout India. Amazing :)

Oh and according to Bubbles, Indians are not smart because they don’t get good SAT scores.

Also, according to her, the IIT-JEE is not a measure of intelligence and hard-work and that Indian schools are not competitive at all.

What does anyone have to say to this? :P

sigh

What else can you say?

lol aniruddh, i didnt say that at all. i just didnt like your perception of americans and education. we always tend to do better than the indians in olympiads anyway

anyway, i dont want to argue or even talk with you for this matter.

and being in iit grad doesn’t guarantee success at all. thats what i was tryna get at

(i know iit grads) some of them are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dull… haha maybe cause all the ones i know are at least 30 or 40

and intelligence/gpa isn’t everything in life (well for some careers haha)

anyway thats just my belief.

Indian students >>>> {ABCDs, DBCAs}
I ∈ {DBCAs}
I’ve seen both sides. Indian students are much better informed. Just my opinion.

P.S: Indian students lack intimate knowledge about Lady Gaga and Kim K.

not all, necessarily. see, you can’t really generalize like that. everyone’s different.

I meant Indian students coming to USA for undergraduate studies.

CBSE, ICS >>> anything offered in any school in USA.

Exactly!
And they’re WAY tougher too.
I’m just jealous because you americans get it easier.

Yeah and one more point of difference- indians don’t spend $40k on school tuition and then opt for $550 per hour services to “help” them with their class assignments.

Oh one more thing, IITians are super-successful and well read human beings

An HYPSM student is far from being “guaranteed” success in life. The starting salary and standard of teaching is roughly the same at all top 50 colleges.

Bubbles is just like the typical american- she doesn’t know anything about the world outside- even india.

Oh and all “american” olympiad winners are actually chinese/indian so kindly shut the efff up.

aniruddh, to be fair, your characterization is not accurate - $40k/yr, $550/hr for tuition. Very few kids go to such schools and that kind of spoon feeding. These are, IMHO, underachievers.

Very significant portion (idk the #s but my guess is > 90%) of high schoolers in USA go to public schools. Only in major urban centers you see some quality difference between public and private HSs. Suburban HSs are generally as good as private schools. e.g., our school sent more kids to Ivys this year than the local private magnet school. We also had more NMSFs.

In this respect, parents of Indian kids spends a lot more money. Don’t convert Rs. to $ - it is all relative to the standard/cost of living, cost of services etc.

ani, you are generalizing way too much.
Plus, I take offense at being put in the same bucket as …

Even in terms of PPP we don’t spend as much as you guys… Except the IB kids.

What’s NMSF?

CC mobile should be banned on my phone lol

I spend $0 for HS education. What about you ani? I bet it is > $0.

Sorry tip, I didn’t mean to do that! I was kinda talking about the average american. I presume you’re in the top 5-10% of your school, so no, I’m not talking about you

Wow you’re on a scholarship? amazing

No. Public school education in this country is free for everyone, no exceptions.
