TJHSST sophomore admissions chances

Hi, I know this might not be a college chances thread, but I wanted to know more about the froshmore admissions process and my chances of getting in this year.

I have a 3.95 unweighted GPA/4.2 weighted GPA, alright extracurriculars (100+ volunteer hrs, fcps regional science fair 3rd place, created my own video game, took summer courses for HTML coding, active member in DECA), very strong essays, and I am able to get 2 good teacher recs and 1 bad one because the teacher doesn't know much English. However I got a really low PSAT score of 170. If I helps, I'm a poor Ethiopian kid and I am thinking about doing the prototyping/materials engineering senior research project. I am taking the most rigorous courseload possible to me next year, which includes AP world history, computer science, and Algebra 2 HN, which is probably going to be lower than most kids (who would most likely be taking Pre-Calc next year, but I am willing to take summer courses and have stated that in my application). Thank you for your time and consideration, and please tell
me the truth about froshmore admissions.

I am a little confused. Since you’ve already taken the psat are you a sophomore now and applying for entry as a junior? If so, then I must tell you that admission as a junior is very rare and I don’t believe they’ve taken any in at least five years.

The primary problem even if you have perfect stats as a sophomore is that you need to fulfill all the prerequisites for whatever research lab you apply for by the end of junior year. I’m also not sure if you would be required to take the tech class that all freshmen and froshmores (the term used to refer to sophomore transfers) have to take.

If you’re transferring in as a sophomore then your chances are decent. My son tells me that there are approximately 25 froshmores in his class, from a pool of about 50 applicants.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant that I am a freshman applying to become a sophomore at TJ next school year. Thank you

My sister goes to that school and the froshmores almost always have a PSAT score of +200 but I think you’re kinda unique. Good luck!

thank you for responding! my psat score was low, but they do the average of the math portion and critical reading portion (my scores are considered competitive by the tj admissions office) and also, i know for a fact that nobody has more community service hours than me, is poorer than me, and i know for a fact that only 2-3 black people have applied to tj sophomore, historically. i hope i get in lol
