Hello all! I had my four impacted wisdom teeth out about two and a half weeks ago. I went to my oral surgeon today because I still had very limited opening in my jaw, and just thought it was an infection. He informed me though that he thought the problem was that during the surgery my TMJ had been aggravated and a disk slipped out of place, limiting my jaw movement. He scheduled me for a minor jaw surgery tomorrow, something call arthroscopy I believe? The way I understood it, it consists of inserting a needle into the joint area to flush out and irrigated the area so disk can at least slip partially back into place.

I'm really nervous about this procedure, and about the overall well-being of my jaw. I'm supposed to start college in the fall as an MT major and am really worried I won't be better by the time school starts. In fact, I'm very worried this problem may never be resolved. I had always been aware that I might have had TMJ as my voice teacher mentioned it frequently, but now that I know I have it, I'm really scared that my jaw may never be back to normal. I'm also really scared about risks involved with the procedure I'm supposed to have done tomorrow.. I'm just really scared in general lol. Singing is my life, I don't think I could bare to not be able to continue with it.

So is anyone familiar with TMJ problems or this procedure? I would appreciate any information to qualm my fears, or just to hear some others experiences with it. Thank you all so much!!
