I have been reading on this board since my son decided to apply EA to Yale. I mostly post on the Parent's Forum, but I just wanted to come here and say something to each and every one of you.

You are the most intelligent, talented, witty, clever, and caring kids ever! When I think of my own son's grueling journey though this EA process, my heart hurts at the possibility of his being made to feel "not good enough" at the end. I don't know what the future holds for him or for any of you, BUT...

I am fully confident that no matter what, EACH of you will have wonderful, successful futures. How do I know this? Well, think about what it takes to even attempt this feat! You must have the academic basics, of course, but more than that, you must possess a true belief in yourself and in your abilities, the willingness to put your psyche on the line for something that you care about deeply, and the resilience to bounce back should things not turn out in your favor. Each of you has all of these things, and THAT'S how I KNOW that no matter what, you WILL succeed in life.

I used to think that should my son not be accepted, the saddest thing would be the crushing of his dreams. Now, I don't think that at all. I think the saddest thing would be that he would not be able to meet each and every one of you in person. I think you would all enrich his life deeply.

Hang in there y'all!! I know that this is the most difficult time, but you will get through it, and no matter what, the future holds amazing things for you all.

With fondess and the utmost respect, ~berurah
