to all you top collegers

OK, guys. I don't know whether or not you have seen my "venting" thread (do search cuz im not quite sure where it's located). Anyways, it seems to be a success and the people who use it seem to enjoy it. So, I have decided to start another thread (on the Ivy, top college, and college admission forums) to help soothe the emotions of the over-stressed CC'ers. Simply put, anyone on these forums who has gotten into any ivy league schools (or something comparable) and tell of any competitions they DID NOT win, any tests they DID NOT ace, etc. Bascially, show the frazzled CC'ers that you are human, that you are not god. Thanks to all who respond!

P.S. I am one of these CC'ers who could use this.

This is a good idea. I am ranked first in my class and got a 35 on the ACT, but for sure, I am human. I work part-time at Papa Murphy's, and I'm here to tell you that I suck at making pizzas. The manager is always complaining about my cleaning, and I am slow at doing stuff in general. Especially with the pizzas, I think this is do to the fact that I have basically no finger or hand dexterity whatsoever (according to Johnson O'Connor aptitude tests lol).

One of the select few to go on to a top-rate school yet got rejected from National Honor Society AND Science Honor Society. I was a hostess at Red Lobster for about a year but they started scheduling me for only one day a week. Now I am flipping burgers/taking money (and names) at McDonalds. And making good money too.

Well...I missed being the valedictorian, I had a few Bs in 9th and 10th grade (and occasionally in 11th and 12th grade, all thanks to Calculus), there were plenty of competitions I entered but didn't do that well in, I got a 3 on the AP French exam, I couldn't get my SATII Physic above a paltry 710 (I think, something that seems high but was really like 73rd percentile). Oh, and I got suspended from school once.

A 710 IS high. Percentiles don't matter on SAT IIs, it's the score. Think about what schools require SAT IIs, and therefore what your competition is that makes up those percentiles. There are probably some here very offended that you called a 710 paltry.

Ah, found it: Got a 730, which was 75th perccentile, in June of '03. Took it again in November and only got a 720, for 72nd percentile. Given that one of the schools I applied to was MIT (I actually wanted to do poli-sci there, but they look for a pretty high level of baseline math/science competence anyway).

Also got 700 on SATII French, which is 74th percentile. "Paltry" was me being facetious, but it's not particularly outstanding, given the scores "top collegers" get.

I got a....660 or something? on the spanish SATII--that was like the 43rd percentile, haha... Also, i didn't take some of the AP tests this year cause i'm lazy...don't have my calc score yet but that's prolly a 2-3, heh...AP Euro was 4 and AP US Hist was a 3

i think my 500 on satII japanese takes the cake..

13th percentile?

i was stoked :/

I'm President of my class, Editor-in-Chief of our school newspaper, and got the thirteenth highest score in my state for a National French Exam.

And I nearly failed Algebra I the first time, so I retook it, and nearly failed again.

Dude, I feel ya on algebra. I almost died taking that back in the day - ironicly, i aced both Calculus AB and BC. WTH?

I didn't go to my last trimester of senior year.
I didn't study (at ALL) for my french baccalaureate with international option (not IB, but much more demanding and complete).
I got 07 out of 20 in Philosophy. 10 was the passing grade.
No college courses, no community service, no honors courses/class ranking/electives at my school.
Unable to keep my living area clean if my life depended on it.
Awful drummer after 4 years of experience.
Pierced, tattooed and stewed.
Human.
