I'm attending a ccc right now and thinking of transfering to USC. I've looked at the school's catalog and for the major i want to pursue (business admin comp sci), it lists a lot of required classes to take. My question to you is this: How many years will you spend @ USC? Whats the normal graduation trend? 4 years? 5 years? 6 years?

Maybe i'm not understanding the requirements correctly, but any clarification would help. Pleez and Thanx

Biz/CS is a very comprehensive major. The idea is that you are getting a special "double major" of sorts with one in Viterbi School of Engineering and the other in the Marshall School of Business. Each individual degree is already very intense as it is.

Technically, all majors theoretically can be completed in 4 years - including Biz/CS (because that's essentially one of the requirements for a major to be approved)

However, because you are doing essentially both sets of core requirements for both majors, Biz/CS has a heavier course load than typical. You can probably still complete in 4 years if you transfer in lots of courses, take more courses per semester, and/or do summer work.

edit, never mind about me. I'm not at all business, I'm some freaky engineering science double major.

The time is takes will depend on how many course you can transfer over (things like GE's, calc, econ etc). The more courses, the sooner you can complete your degree. Also, a lot of the CS classes vary in the number of units so it's hard to guage how long it would take. It's pretty much impossible to complete both majors in 2 years, but the combined program takes out a lot of reqs. For example, although CS is in the college, I don't think there's any foreign language reqs for the combined major. For business you only have 6 core and 2 concentration course (as compared to 10 core and 4 concentration).

Well the regular CS degree being in the College is somewhat weird and strange in the sense that you have to satisfy the viterbi admission requirements, plus you satisfy the Viterbi GE requirements (as to category 4, etc).

Plus CS majors participate in engineering-only things like Tau Beta Pi, the USC Engineering honors program, etc. Basically the "CS in the college" thing only makes a difference with double majoring, foreign language requirement, etc. Otherwise CS is kind of really "de facto" in viterbi and the college thing is more of a proceedural deal.

CS is in the College. CECS is in Viterbi.

Not anymore. That changed last year, according to what I've heard (CS is officially in Viterbi now)... but CS majors still have a foreign language requirement.
