TO EVERYBODY: What is your WOW factor?

We all know that most everyone at BS is good at something in particular. So what do you consider being your WOW factor? What are are you extremely good at? When did you start? How good are you at it? Have you won any awards? National/regional/local?

Football/Hockey/Crew, unique charity work, dual citizenship(under rep minority group) 4.0 GPA, several languages. Debate team, lots of academic awards, FP, The only neg. is below average ssat score. I
m not going to retake the test. I
m aiming for some Ct. schools considered lower tier 1 and higher tier 2. So if I don
t get in, then I guess it
s not meant to be. Good luck every one :D

@maddog- Hm, very nice! So what kind of charity do you do?

Come on people! Let’s get more answers!

Just a friendly warning that you’ll probably reveal more of your identity than is wise by answering. GemmaV suggested last week that y’all avoid getting too specific about yourselves on CC.

This is a stalker feature.

Yeah, your WOW factor is a bit too specific IMO. I’d post mine if I was already in, but alas I have to wait another 65 days.

ill post mine march 11th :)

^Same :P

10 char

I don’t really have a strong WOW factor. I am pretty good at math but compared to most of the others applying to boarding schools I’m not that impressive. I consider myself pretty average in most areas. I don’t think that an admission officer would pick up my application and be shocked at some of the activities/achievements that I have but I may be down playing my strengths? I’ve been focusing a lot on my interviews are essays this year by trying to make my personality shine through. Hopefully that helps me gain admission to some schools.

Bilingual…Dual Citizenship?
Lived in two different countries…?

2010 hopeful- Agreed. Same here.

Yes people! Don’t post anything right now! Wait until March 10th/11th until you post anything.

BUMP!

I’m attending Exeter next year. I didn’t have a SUPER wow factor. 3 time state chess champion. Intense theater person for a loooooong time. Fencing. 15th place at international Future Problem Solving comp. Those are the only things I have that are even mildly special…

Attending Andover next year. Honestly, I never really thought I was incredible at anything. I’ve been playing piano for a very long time, and dancing for the same number of years. I’m a concert pianist, not a competitive one. So I’ve played in dozens concerts, which I guess is cool? Haha. I’m also pretty athletic, but not impressively so. I’m guessing my grades, artistic endeavors, and community service helped me!

Oh, and markalex1, I fence too! Or at least I used to. (:

bumpppppp

I’m Attending Andover as a new junior (freshmen) this fall. I didn’t specifically have one WOW factor. I’m a very competitive swimmer ( who would’ve guessed??? ) and have won numerous state titles and am ranked nationally. I have an indentical twin, who also got accepted. I’m in all double accelerated classes and one quadruple-accelerated class and I have an A average. I’m the first-chair cello in my school’s grade-level orchestra and in the premier orchestra at the school. I’m also a member of our school’s all boys, select choir.

I’m attending Exeter as an incoming prep next year. I wouldn’t say I had any specific wow factor, but I am semi-fluent in German and attend Concordia Language Villages, which is rare. I also play the violin. I’m a straight A student. I’m a talented writer and love history and sci-fi. I am also a big rower.

I’m attending Andover as a repeat freshman and my wow factor was definitely my hockey abilities. Besides that I was probably just another applicant but I think that’s what made me stand out.

hehe my wow factor is probably that i’m international and need full aid. that probably shocked the admissions committees

heh seriously though, i think it’d be my journalism/poetry. that’s probably my only “hook”, and a lame one at that

haha what a joke

I think Lawrenceville was impressed by my dashing good looks and toned muscles.
