I got that I was just explaining it to 2010 Hopeful :). I remember my father telling me about it. and neato you are old, at least compared to us ;). I do remember 1999 but admittedly I wasn’t watching speeches, especially not american political speeches. I’m not that much of a boring mini genius :D

LOL, Blueraven…I was starting to get scared there.

Neato–I just logged in. I confess it’s been ages since I posted. I am surprised that you have a kiddo applying this year as I remember “talking” with you back in 2008 when my son was applying and last year when he was a bs newbie and experiencing some bumps in the road.

Best wishes to your son and I hope he receives lots of fat envelopes–or skinny ones with acceptance letters inside!

Thank you to neato and all the parents,
I wish my parents were as involved as you are. Yesterday I told my mom there was only 10 days and I was SO excited, and she was like 10 days till what? D: Lol, anyway, thanks for being there with ur great advice!!

The exact same thing happened to me Hoping! I’m jealous of all these kids who have parents who are all involved. Do any of the parent posters have kids who post here or is it one or the other.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the majority(but not all) of the kids who post here do not have parents that are so involved in the process?

I reckon. Mine are totally not involved, I know A7Xs arent much either, Hoping clearly not. That just leaves um flip, Urbanflop, Tuesdays, Jyun, Assign, Hcos and others who I don’t know about parent involvement?

Yesterday I was freaking out about March 10th and my mom was just like “go do your homework”. I was like “wow thanks for caring”. Then today I was talking about revisit days and my mom was all like “Your going to need to get a job because blah blah blah…” I was just like I know. My mom supports me, she just isn’t that involved and my dad thinks its a dumb crazy idea because I’m afraid to go college. If I do get accepted I don’t think my dad will understand how big of an accomplishment it is.

I’m already working on revisit day just in case. I doubt it’ll happen: it’s a waste of money apparently. My mom sort of supports me because she doesn’t want me moving around a lot anymore because she saw what it did to my older sister but my father is dead against it. He’ll pay the bills though because my mother says that if I can get in ‘we’ll take it from there’ but I doubt she’ll stand in my way. At this point there’s still a 30% chance that I could get in and get vetoed by my parents :(

Well, good luck to your family neato, and I am sending positive thoughts your way, and to some unknown admissions committees wherever they are.

My parents are involved they just don’t have time to get on this site as much as I do.

Blue! I feel the exact same way!! Like they won’t understand how big of an accomplishment this is or how much this means to me if I do get in. I can just imagine them being like “oh thats nice” lol, anyway my parents are flipped, my dad is like “we’ll take it from there” and my mom is dead against it.

I was reading this thread and I as I said before I wondered why none (as far as I’m aware) of the active parents on this forum have kids that post and why the kids on CC tend to not have overly involved parents. I can draw conclusions of why from that but wondered what everyone else thought?

Totally second your observation. What’s your theory, Blue?
My parents are very appropriately involved in my education but they don’t post on this forum because they don’t speak English.

My son doesn’t like message boards. Chat, on the other hand, is a completely different story. :)

He said he would join next year if he’s at BS to answer questions for people.

I didn’t like message boards before CC. I got converted.

I had never been on a message board/forum before CC.

I hadn’t either… :)

(feeling stupid) whats a message board? Is it similar to forums?
My parents, like assign’s, are very appropriately involved in my education. And both have amazing english that helps when filling parent statement and pfs…although they were reluctant at first, atm they are very supportive. Thank god

CC is the only message board that I join.
