to get a supplemental rec or not?

So I want to go into college as a biology major. The problem, however, is that I have nothing outstanding in terms of ECs in the field besides an ap score, course grade, and sat ii grade. And my biology teacher would not write too great a rec for me.

This past summer I took a class at Brown and my teacher wrote a "course evaluation" describing my deep interest in the sciences and my personality. She also said I was among the top students in the class.

So, should I ask her to write a supplementary recommendation? I know they should be used sparingly, but a part of me feels that this is necassary to show my academic interests are real and not just superficial.

Opinions?

I think it would be fine, particularly since your other recommendations don't seem super strong. Many people send character references, and IMHO, I think they help!

I recommend sending 2 academic references and 1 supplementary, no more.
