Okay, so I wanted to calculate my chances of getting into UMichigan. Here is everything:
Out-of-state applicant. Neither of my parents went to college. I am a senior who attends a Jesuit Catholic high school in the Northeast. I am an aspiring linguistics/classics major.
Act: 28
English: 35
Math: 23
Reading: 32
Science: 23
I got a 680 on my Latin SAT II in June of this past summer, but I plan on taking it again in December of this year–I did not study for the first one, so I have studied a bit for this one. I am aiming for over a 700.
GPA: 3.93 (unweighted), 4.2 (if weighted, but my school does not weigh them for whatever reason). A total of 6 AP classes in my high school career (US GOPO, English LANG, US 1 & 2, WHAP, English LIT, and Latin). During my sophomore and junior years, I took two languages: Latin and German. I received gold medals on the National Latin Exam during my junior and sophomore years.
Extracurriculars: President and Founder of the National Junior Classics League at my school, member of the National Honors Society, member of the Campus Ministry Team and Kairos leader, participant in mission trips to Ecuador and Philadelphia for community service, founding member of the Adventure Club trip (We have gone to the Grand Canyon and are going to Costa Rica), ski club member, and varsity lacrosse two-year player.
I also participated in the Latin in Rome program through the University of Dallas and received an A in the course, which was the equivalent of a sophomore course at the school. Potentially, I could use this for credit and enter some higher level Latin courses when I begin my college Latin career wherever that may be.
I feel like my essay and short answers would either make or break my application, but I wanted to get the opinions of some other people.
