Hi guys I'm going a LSA freshman this fall and I don't know if I should take IB credit or not. I am able to receive credit for Econ 101 and 102 and Maths 115 and 116.

I want to apply for Ross so I would like to get as high a gpa as possible. Would it be better to skip those and take easier classes or are easy enough to take anyways?

Thanks!

The pros and cons really depend on your situation, finances, and goals.
On one hand, transferring the credits may give you a bit of breathing space so that you can avoid overloading with credits each semester and still graduate in 4 years – which has an obvious financial benefit.

At the same time, transferring in the credits means that you are immediately entering more rigorous levels of the course (good for learning – perhaps not great for GPA, depending on your level of mastery). It ALSO means that you get earlier registration with the more credits you have, (pro) BUT (con) that you more quickly have to pay the UPPER LEVEL tuition because with a lot of credits transferred it you max out the lower credit fee rate of 60 more quickly (this will add a thousand or two to tuition.)

Finances are not so much an issue as the value of time for me in regards to graduating in 4 years. As for taking more advanced courses earlier on, I think I’d probably prefer to refresh my knowledge first with the entry level courses. Do those courses have a “weed-out” element to them as I have heard that some entry level courses have?
