To people who PM me

Dear potential GS students,

Please do not send me private messages, pleading for "chances" and advice for getting in if you are worried that my response is going to be less than positive. Generally, all of my responses to you are positive because I truly believe that this school admits the best of those who feel passionate about attending. Furthermore, I love being as helpful as possible because I was in your position last year.

HOWEVER, my responses are and will continue to be honest. My intention is to be helpful, optimistic, and positive... but certainly not pull the wool over your eyes. If I feel that you could do more to improve your application by placing your best foot forward in your essay, OR bring your grades up as a result of a low GPA or whatnot, I will tell you so.

To those who want someone to check out their essay, OR who actually would like an honest, straightforward, helpful opinion and not sugar coated, insincere fluff -- please feel free to PM me. I promise to be nice, friendly, and helpful.

Thanks,

This post is the forum equivalent of confidently yelling at someone on your cellphone, and then having it ring.

knitty321,

I’m then assuming your part of the GS admissions staff?

If you’re not willing to answer my question, I completely understand.

I think the syntax betrays him/her. Can’t possibly be a member of the staff.

How many PMs could one possibly be getting?
