Hi guys, I got a 32 on my last ACT (this was a big surprise and relief, I actually screamed) - 35 on English, 35 on reading, 33 on science and... 24 on math. I'm very proud and secure in my 32, but I'm worried about how that 24 will look. Is it worth taking the test again? Thanks for your advice!

Bump. C’mon, who wants to help me out? :)

Yeah, if you think you can do better, definitely!

I don’t think the individual scores matter so much as your composite. Your 32 is already at the 99th percentile. You can’t do much better than that. Granted, if you take it again, you’ll probably score one or two points higher (statistically speaking). However, is it really worth it? One or two points aren’t going to do much in swaying the admissions decisions at this score point. If you decide you want to try again, and you have the time, sure, why not? But that score as is, is not going to do anything but help your app, 24 on math or not. Btw, congrats on the fantastic score!

Memphismnb, I’d have to disagree. You can do a good bit better (4 more points) that won’t necessarily make a big difference, but you can do better.

But yes, 32 is a great score. That being said, if you think you can get up to a ~29 or 30, that could bring it up 1 or 2 points, which, while not making a difference in admission most of the time, could make a big difference in financial aid. But if you don’t think you can get significantly higher, it’s not worth it.
