That is the question. First off, I’m planning on applying to Pomona ED II and it’s a reach. My SAT I score is 2180 (1430 m+cr) but my SAT Subject test scores are 640 Math II and 670 Bio M
Should I submit the subject test scores?
I mean, I have a choice, right? Do the scores reflect really badly on me or is it better to submit them?
The math 2 is the 33rd percentile. Bio is the 48th percentile. Schools know that they can’t distinguish which students use score select and which don’t. That means that those who follow the university rules regarding whether choice is allowed are often penalized compare to those that do use score choice. So the schools should stop prohibiting the choice. Allow students to choose. Why should a student who went the extra mile to take a test but did poorly end up less well off then a student who did not bother.
I don’t understand. I was under the impression that there’s no SAT I score choice, meaning you can’t send only one of your SAT scores or a super score, but subject tests are separate. If subject tests aren’t required, why would you be required to send the scores of you’ve taken them and done badly?
I’d say send them in! Pomona will only look at your highest scores. I sent in a 640 Math I, 690 US History, and 740 Literature and I still got accepted ED1 this year! I was really scared about the tests hurting my chances but I sent them in anyway because Pomona said they required all scores to be submitted. I was skeptical about whether or not they would truly only look at the highest scores, but if one person’s experience means anything, they really do only consider your best testing! Best of luck!
whoa whoa whoa… don’t worry, you’re right about subject tests. I took like 6 subject tests because I wasn’t expecting to get accepted to Pomona ED (I was), and one of them was suuuper weak cause I didn’t notice the last 20 questions until the last 5 minutes of the test. You’re never forced to send in all your subject tests, and if you were, I would’ve had no chance at Pomona And no, I wouldn’t send them in if I were you; they’re good but not “Pomona-good”
