To The Cas Students

For those who attended orientation already. did you study for your placement tests and what subjects did you have tests on?
thank you in advance for you reply

I took the spanish, biology and chem placement tests. I didn't study for any of them. For the bio, you only take it if you scored a 4 or 5 on the AP exam. For chem, I think you should only take it if you want to take honors chem, because otherwise, I felt the exam was useless.

You have to take the chem exam to be in chemistry. It lets the professor know what information he can skip over.

thank you for the information. so i don't have to take the math test?
and what if i want to take chemistry in college. but i took it in high school 2 years ago and don't remember anything?

I haven't taken chem since sophomore year, and I'm taking it this semester. You should be fine.

If you want to take chemistry in college, then the placement exam is mandatory. I didn't have chemistry since sophomore year, but just briefly glancing over the topics will get you through fine (and vaguely remembering gas laws and stuff). However, if you are looking to place into the honors track (and for this, you have to take a separate chemistry exam) then you may want to brush up on the chem.

If you have other questions on specific exams, maybe we could help you better if you identified them.

You might as well. The worst that can happen is that you wasted an hour, anyway. You have plenty of time for the questions (which are 15 and some, I think) which are SAT I caliber, and because it places you out of quantitative reasoning, it's an easy way to eliminate a MAP class. If you have AP credit (i.e. a 4 or a 5 on AB or BC), then I believe you don't have to take the test and that you place out of q.r.

so for math exam i don't have to study my calculus notes, right? It has topics of math a and b ?

Guys, did you have to take any writing tests?

That is correct.

I don't understand what that means, but I'll say yes anyway.

Well, it depends on your major; math majors and pre-med students don't have to take the test.
