To the parents...

This past weekend, my girlfriend and I visited the Yard. She had never seen the place and wanted me to give her the Grand Tour (which I did).

While we were there a group of kids in Navy shorts and green shirts trotted by, led by Midshipmen in Navy shorts and detailer shirts. I thought it was some middle-school field trip until I looked more closely at their shirts and realized they were NASS candidates.

Good Lord, were we THAT young when WE signed up?

I offer thanks to all you parents for producing kids who, at that young age, are willing to put it all on the line for the rest of us. You done good.

Just wanted to share. God bless.

We were there too this last weekend, Zaphod. My daughter is there right now running around in a green shirt....I'm trying to stay busy because when I stop and think about it, I get very emotional. She has called several times and is having a ball. I can't say so much for me...Thank you for you kind words.

Ohhhh Z that was sweet! They are just babies arent they! Lets keep them for a few more years .. Pretty please!?!

Flymom.. that year between NASS and Plebe Summer FLIES FLIES so fast! Cherish every minute!! We only have 3 weeks left til I'day.

MOMTOLOLA2011,

Good luck to your I-Day baby. I'm cherishing, believe me!! I'm not sure at this point where this first bundle of joy will end up (she goes to USAFA next week...) but believe me, I'm squashing in all the 'cherishing' I can. I really appreciate all the words of wisdom I find here.

God bless all the I-Day "babies" and to their parents for the biggest sacrifice of all..

Please keep us all informed on how the Plebe year goes.

Flymom! You all have a busy summer! best of luck to you and yours. GO NAVY! :)

Gee, Zaph. When I think I can't get anymore emotional, you write the most genuinely sweet, moving comment (I'm totally serious).

Thank YOU for YOUR service in keeping us safe.

Good luck to all of the NASS parents. Hang on! MTL2011 is right. It goes by so horribly fast. My baby is in the first group on I-Day (0630......blechk!!).

Please let us know how it went and what your daughter chooses to do!

GO NAVY!!!
