Okay, so I’m a Bowdoin applicant and will be taking a trip to New England to visit colleges this month and i’m wondering if it will be worth it to take the trip up to Bowdoin? I ask because i will be visiting during Bowdoin’s spring break, and the college is also a little out of the way of the others I will be visiting. I LOVE Bowdoin and would love to visit, but don’t want to be disappointed by an empty campus and might wait to visit during an admit weekend if I get in.

Advice? Is it still worth the trip even if the student body is absent? Thanks!

The plus side, in my view, of visiting during a break is that it's less awkward/intimidating to just walk around campus after the tour is over and spend extra time in the buildings they don't show you very much of during the tour. Plus, it's not like no one is going to be on campus since many students stay just because it's not practical to go home. It would be ideal to visit twice, as I did during both a break in the semester and admit weekend.
But if that's not a practical option than I would suggest admit weekend. There will be a lot of other incoming students there so you get a chance to socialize and everyone is in the same boat trying to familiarize themselves with the campus so it's less overwhelming. And it's easier to imagine yourself at Bowdoin if there are other students actually there, as opposed to a bunch of empty buildings. Plus, the snow will be gone so it's a lot more pleasant to get around and picturesque.
