To Westinghouse participants

i think last year, they called for finalists but semis were just posted on the internet. this sucks, i was hoping winning semis would at least strengthen my college apps a bit, but from the looks of projects on this board alone, im not feeling too confident.

Don't worry Rikataka. It will definetly help for college apps. You did research and wrote a research paper!!!

the Westinghouse website says that this year they'll also post regional finalists on their website

calling 300 people when they're going to post it on Friday anyway?
now if I don't get a phone call on Tues or Wed I'm going to be disappointed... haha

Nevermind. Apparently last year, they called for finalists, but semis' were on the website.

yeah Ritakana , suddenly my project seems a little too simple... but then again this is CC...

at least I was on a team! haha

so it seems not too much time is put into the initial review by the judges, does anyone know how the initial review works? do they just get 2-3 judges to read your paper and thats it?

4 days!!! I'm really hoping my partner and I get this Semifinalist thing down...

Just checked the siemens website:

Semi-finalist names will be posted by 4PM- one hour earlier than what we last heard- if it helps anyone. Woo-hoo!

Awesome!! Wonder why they changed something like that; it's not like the old "by 5:00" was actually inaccurate.

i'm nervous. i hope everyone from CC makes semis, even if i don't ! :)

Last year, does anyone know what time they had the list up? I mean, was it around 12:00pm or more like 4:59pm?

because they know we're all anxious and one hour is too much to wait...
good luck to everyone else as well!

hey! Its not even thursday, and we are bidding each other good luck like we'll never talk again!

Anybody else want to describe their project to us?

how "good" exactly does a project have to be to make it?

anyone have any insight from previous competitions and examples of ones that did and ones that didn't?

mine seems so simple and stupid compared to yours

oh, and is the calling thing true? did anyone hear?

Mine isn't that simple, but it's very esoteric/has no applications/judges won't like it. :(

Haha in one of my practice presentations I told the listeners that my research currently has no applications. I could see the teacher's face turn dour immediately.

"practice presentations"

practice for what?

In case he gets regional finalist?
