To Westinghouse participants

zogoto you're trying to win Siemens like very year?

lol what?? I've only gone once and it's almost 0% that I even get semifinalist again...

zogoto can you tell us what it was like, the experience, everything. did you think you would get it?

why do you say you have no shot at semifinalist again?

So who here has already began next year's project? I've started reading literature, since I pretty much know what I'm going to do(thought about it over the summer, as I exposed flaws in current siemens entry).

Is next year's project going to be an extension of this year, or something completely new?

I don't think we should worry too much about Semi-finalist, etc, since that will just make the results on Friday much more emotional(= bad if you don't get semi's). We've done research as HS'er's, something that is deserving of merit in itself.

less than 48 hours left...

tick tock tick tock tick tock

Reg. Finals was fun, but definitely less so than ISEF. Lots of suit wearing (I bought a suit the week before and never had owned one prior to that), but also some fun stuff. Excellent experience over all.

I didn't think I would get it last year, but the project was more applicable and fed the Siemens public image better than this year's project, which is good, but only in my head (i.e. other's probably wouldn't agree it is as beautiful as it really is). The paper's also pretty bad since I had to write it in 30 hours straight (all nigher/afternooner) rather than over 1 week last year. And last year I wrote it with another person, while here I wrote alone. Probable publication though.

u wrote the whole paper in one 30 hour span? wow.

It was very intense and very hard lol. 30 hours actually also includes 6 hours of project-finishing so it's safe to say 24 hours of paper writing.

It wasn't completely unintentional though. I didn't want to start writing until I had the perfect results (i.e. project >>> paper/swc).

Hmmm... I wrote the paper over the course of 3 months. I was also midway through my project when I started. Thus, I had about half the paper up to methodology done before I had any results, and this helped me, because I was able to recieve criticism from profs on what might be tweaked, and was able to implement that before the project was finalized. However, since I don't really have any conclusive results(couldn't get supercomputer account in time), I am pretty much out of the running. Instead of focusing too much on results, I slapped in a 5 page runtime analysis, with lots of ways to improve the runtime length(customized beowulf cluster, etc).

I don't know, do all semi-finalists have dead conclusive results?

my project wasn't completely conclusive since it was sort of a preliminary experiment of a really big project im gonna be working on throughout the year..

40 hours to go!

Wow, I haven't thought about Siemens since oct. 1. I definitely won't make semifinalist.

its okay oprescu, neither will i haha

yeah your project sucks
lol just kidding, i don't even understand your project

I can't wait!

31.5 hours to go!

24 hrs...

i'm going insane

22.25 hours...

21.5 hours... ok, I think we should stop. This is kind of obsessive.

hahah this makes me laugh. let's not get our hopes up so we aren't disappointed when 4 o clock rolls around tmrw
