thug, I think there is one valuable aspect to this thread: Other than some particular exceptions (schools which tend to send "boatloads" of students to Ivies, for example), it is evident that actually in most schools, admission tickets to Elites are given out sparingly, even for Vals and Sals, usually. I know this list is hardly comprehensive, but I think since it stretches over 2 cycles, and since some cross- verification is available from other postings on CC, the thread is illuminating. It sheds some light on the overplayed (I think) angst about the supposed Unfairness of it All, "shocking" rate of rejections," theoretically "startling" news, etc.
Not startling at all. And not (apparently) terribly "new" news.

We had three last year: one's at Yale, one at Kenyan, and another at Smith. Pretty good for a crappy city high school if you ask me.

My class valedictorian (class of 2007) will probably go to Columbia. He was waitlisted at Harvard, rejected at MIT. He was accepted at several schools: NYU Stern, RPI, Lehigh, Cooper Union, West Point, and Cornell. That's all I know about him.

Past Years:

2006 val: Attends University of Delaware w/large scholarship (he got into Harvard but chose not to attend)

2005 val: Attends UPenn

2004 val: Attends Columbia

2007: Me! Going to Yale, also accepted to Harvard, Georgetown, and UChicago
2006: Northwestern, rejected by Duke, JHU
2005: Purdue

2005: UC Berkeley

2006: UC Berkeley

2007: I haven't found out yet.

Our class valedictorian's going to UChicago and majoring in econ, though he was pretty deadset on applying to mostly business schools. He was rejected from Penn (Wharton) and MIT, but got into CMU (Tepper), Berkeley, Michigan (including pre-admit to Ross), and NYU (Stern Scholars).

Our salutatorian is going to UVA, I don't really know much about where else she applied other than WashU and Miami of Ohio.

Previous years:

2006: Val-U of Pittsburgh
Sal-Columbia

2005: Val-Dartmouth
Sal-Case Western

2004: Val-Case Western
Sal-Ohio State

Most people go to those schools for financial reasons, they give them full scholarships.

The valedictorian this year got into Harvard EA, but I'm not sure if she's going. I remember her saying that she might turn down Harvard for Brown, but I'm not sure if she got into Brown, so yeah.

2006's valedictorian went to NYU and the salutatorian went to John Hopkins.

Princeton University!!!!

My school's valedictorian this year was rejected from MIT, Princeton, and Harvard and waitlisted at Columbia and Cornell. He got into Rutgers and Villanova.

Sooooo the valedictorian is going to.....................RUTGERS! (10 minutes from our school)

Oh, and the salutatorian is going to Georgetown.

Last years val goes to Georgetown, too. And last year's sal goes to Penn.

Not bad. ;)

Going to Harvard

This Years Valadictorian applied to..
Harvard (EA)
Princeton

and got in to..
Harvard (EA)
Princeton

Rice

My small high school (about 75 kids) in So Cal.

2003: Georgetown
2004: Southern Cal.
2005: Penn (my sister!)
2006: Stanford
2007: Duke or Georgetown (I haven't decided yet)
I was rejected from: Harvard, Yale, Princeton
I was waitlisted at Penn
I also got into Berkeley, UCLA, Occidental, UCSB

D is the val....
accepted at Williams, UNC-Chapel-Hill, UMD-College Park, BU,
not accepted at MIT...

Still deciding....

Our Val:
Accepted at BC
Rejected from Tufts and Harvard

Our Sal:
Accepted BC, Brown
Rejected: Harvard, Yale
Waitlisted: Cornell

'05: Stanford (EA)
'06: Princeton (ED)
'07: Yale (EA)

I'm going to Rollins, and the other three valedictorians are going to UF. I was the top applicant out of the group, and got rejected from Yale, Princeton and waitlisted at Duke, Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins. Shows how dumb our school is.

Last year the biggest acceptance was the Air Force Academy. 2005 the valedictorian got into Harvard but opted to go to Miami (FL) for financial concerns.

The valedictorian is going to Williams this year even though he got into Harvard because he wants to run (he is not good enough for division 1 or whatever harvard is)

hahvaaahd! (10char)

The valedictorian is my best friend. Hahahah! She got into ALL 5 colleges she applied to (@#$%^&!!!) - Brown, Columbia, Berkeley, Hamilton and Haverford. She picked Columbia in the end tho... she was kinda sad about having to ditch the other 4 cuz she just couldn't make up her mind. ^^;;
