TOEFL in applications

My SAT score is 2080 (780 Math 690 Writing 610 Reading) will taking the TOEFL subsidize the writing + critical low scores? I will be applying for MIT. Does getting a perfect TOEFL score qualify me to be competitive in the realm of standrized tests .

Yes I am an international student

No, getting sufficient toefl only means you have adequate English skills. It doesn’t help you at all in term of competitiveness. That being said, getting higher SAT score is much more helpful

Yeah, I also agree with @paul2752 . Your toefl score does’t matter that much (as long as its in the range for the college).
You should aim for a higher SAT score (or try the ACT, which really suits some people)

P.S. MIT requires a much higher SAT score, if you don’t have amazing extra curriculars.

Actually, for international applicants, MIT does not require the SAT. While they can take it in lieu of TOEFL, TOEFL is preferred for non native speakers.

@Soheils Well that’s true but most of the International applicants include both in order to be more competitive.

If you have extra info or even better, applicants who followed this requirement, I would really like to know

@Mrduque according to MIT, they prefer TOEFL for int’ls, but I can not comment on how that is managed.
A friend of mine, who has very good stats has applied to MIT without SAT. I will inform you of how that works out.

@Soheils Well, I’m thinking in applying this fall so I really appreciate your response.
