I have to take the TOEFL ( international student, but I've lived abroad and my parents raised me in English), but I'll be out of the country in all the available dates. However, the city that I'll be in is hosting a TOEFL while I'm there...Can I take the TOEFL in a country that I'm not a resident or citizen?

A larger question is do u really need to take the TOEFL if u have been educated in English?

The schools require the TOEFL for all residents of non english speaking countries, but in the interviews they all said that it was clear english was my first language.

You might want to check with the schools and with the organization that administers the test, but since it’s a standardized test, where you take it shouldn’t matter and may not even be reported in the scores that are sent to schools.

For future students with the same question (I contacted ETS): You can do the TOEFL in any country in the world (even if you’re not a citizen) as long as you have your passport with you.
