I am an Italian student in the 12th grade, I would like to apply to an undergraduate program in engineering in USA. I am preparing for SAT Math 1&2, SAT Physics and TOEFL.
So,what I wanted to know is that, did the American universities require SAT Critical Reading and Writing iven if I passed the TOEFL test?

You should check the websites of the specific universities you’re targeting. Each my have different requirements. Usually passing TOEFL is a minor requirement. SATIs are normally required for most applicants.

Why are you taking Math 1 when you’re taking the Math 2? That seems unduly repetitive (and unecesssary)

Pretty much agree with T26E4. For most colleges in the US, you need to take ACT or SAT1 and two SAT2 subject test. TOEFL is required by most schools if you are from a country not using English as primary language. For some colleges, even students coming from foreign countries to the US for high school are still required to take TOEFL. Nevertheless, TOEFL does not replace any other test requirement.
For applying engineering program, you should definitely take Math2 and a science subject for SAT2 as minimal requirement. Taking Math1 would be a waste of time and money.

TOEFL is a language test. if you score >680, more than 60% universities will waive TOEFL for application. but if you score say 120 in TOEFL, other than SAT optional schools, nobody will waive SAT. another thing, SAT optional school take a look at SAT score to give out need based scholarship to internationals (if you need it).

oh I forgot to sat TOEFL iBT. I wanted to SAY even perfect score (120) in TOEFL iBT won’t qualify a student for SAT waiver (if SAT is offered in the country)

yeah. Last year, Cornell waived TOEFL requirement for the students who had 670+ in SAT critical reading portion. I thought that was the highest. most school have the requirement of 650 or 600. Many colleges don’t offer TOEFL waiver though (Colgate for example). But they waive in case to case basis as I heard from admission officer.

Just as an additional information. UMich requires TOEFL for students that have been in the US for less than 4 years disregarding SAT scores. I know some local colleges would waive TOEFL if one has been here for 2 years.

You should take SAT or ACT (and prepare well to score as high as you can - you need to know the test format to be able to work quickly and make as few errors as possible) plus SAT Math2, Physics, and another science subject -you can take three on the same day so go ahead and take three, it can"t hurt if you have three good scores and if one is less then you can discard it and use the two that are left.
TOEFL is just a language score to see if you meet the minimum requirement to function in English at the school. Once you’ve reached the schools’ requirements - and it goes from 61 to 100, with most satisfied with 88-90- you’re fine, the schools don’t pay attention to it. Only SAT/ACT scores matter once you’ve reached the “threshold score”.
And Drexter is absolutely correct: indeed some colleges waive the TOEFL if you score 650+ on the CR section.
