So my life has largely been shaped by my parent’s divorce and its subsequent repercussions. Is that too cliche to talk about? I’ve heard you shouldn’t write sad things unless they’re super unique. I think there’s a way to spin it into a good thing (made me more mature and independent) but I feel like writing about divorce is a no-no. Let me know what you guy think. Thanks!
There is no cliche; every person has a unique story even if it was about divorce . If this is what you believe has shaped you effectively into becoming the person you are today then you should definitely write about it.
“There are no cliche topics only cliche essays”
Just make sure to focus on how it influenced you and not too much on the divorce itself. It’s not a particularly risky topic to write about.
