Too Good To Go…..who has tried it?

They look more like baby beets to me. Old baby beets, as it were.

Or little rutabagas.

Oh, I love a mystery veggie!

We did a CSA box one summer and had to figure things out. The downside of the CSA is when they had prolific crop, our garden did too, so when I would’ve loved tomatoes I got stuck with beans and zucchini that were also over growing our garden.

We always do a CSA share. It has greatly expanded our fruit and veggie repetoire. It also made all of my grandmother’s recipes suddenly make sense. Ratatouille, succotash, etc. Duh!
All harvested at the same time!

And I also realized that faced with the reality of produce excess, I was almost as creative as she was in my use of said produce. Of course, still wanting to hear what @CottonTales does with that bounty.

I haven’t bought a surprise bag for awhile, but decided to get one today. I got a 5” bacon, leek and Gruyère pie, smoked salmon spread, 2 small plums and some fresh ginger. I’m happy with this bag for $4.99

We are so boring, but this app is how we get all of our bagels now, they’re really good! The last giant bag had some mini bagels which were a big hit (NJ bagels are large nyc like bagels, a lot of time 1/2 is plenty, so nice to grab a frozen mini from the freezer).

I just tried it, YUM! It’s really light, almost like a mousse.

It will suck the next time you have to pay full price for bagels.

I don’t think I ever will, it appears to be an almost daily option, and my husband drives right by it to and from one of his offices. He’s actually purchased sandwiches there, as well. And now I want a seafood spread to go with my bagels.

And I was thinking of your bagels for my seafood spread, I had to settle for club crackers. We are both in Boston…

Worth it for the small pie alone!

Do you back to the same bagel place using Too Good to Go? I’ve tried several different places using the app to try out different places inexpensively but found I like one place much more. I kind of feel weird primarily using the app rather than paying full price for the bagels. I usually buy the day old ones at the grocery store since we tend to like our bagels toasted. I haven’t paid full price for bagels in ages except when we have company.

We do, but feel better about it since my husband has started buying some sandwiches there as well. Normally a dozen bagels is $12, and we get about 2 dozen for $6. Our grocery store offers discounted bread products every evening but not day old ones, so you need to be there for the announcement. The bagels through bagelwich are better though.

I’m in NJ (my daughter is in Boston), but next time H gets the bagels I’m going to ask him to get some spreads so we’re not taking advantage. My kids are all pretty crunchy about not wasting and environmental issues so they like how we now get our bagels.

@Mjkacmom dont worry about this. If all of these bagels didn’t go to you folks, they would likely get trashed.

Yes, you are not taking advantage! If this didn’t work for the stores, they wouldn’t participate. Far from being taken advantage of, they are benefitting.

We don’t eat bagels that often so I doubt anyone would even recognize me but I still think about it. My grocery always has a sale rack filled with bakery stuff near the check out. Some times there are lots of things to pick from, other times not so much, priced 30%-75% off depending upon the sell by date.

I see in a later post you are in NJ so I looked up bagelwich. I used to live in the neighborhood but am now in southern Monmouth county. Good bagels are few and far between around here. Sometimes I wish I was still in NNJ.

Lol my cousin’s daughter went to Montclair state, they’re from Wall. Just saw them DTS at our point pleasant rental, apparently she’s spoiled and can’t find good food at home anymore. Of course we have many friends who have moved to south Jersey, you get some more and give up some more. I think it’s a wash (my oldest has a rental in ocean grove a short walk to the beach and couldn’t be happier).

Saving money is a good thing. You are helping them out and they aren’t losing money either. Somehow decreasing the carbon footprint. Enjoy what you get. We have very similar bakeries etc on it and they sell out early. Known one’s… I haven’t done this in awhile and now I have to go online and look. Lol
