hey im a going to be a senior just wondering if its too late to apply also, does anyone know if have been any Indians in the US Navy? I am Indian so, just wondering...not like its going to defer my decision but just curious.
thnx

It's not really too late but you're pushing the line. It's not something that you can just do, it takes a lot of commitment and dedication. It's not just a four year college so unless you have thought really hard about what it means to go there, you should do that first. After that there is a lot to do, that you may or may not have time, depending on how much time it takes you to get things done. You have to fill out a pre-candidate app, get a number, regular app and essay, take a CFA, nominations, recommendations, the list goes on and on. I've been doing stuff since June and I'm no where near done.

do they send you stuff when u do the pre app?

They will send you some information and more forms to complete. Also, you will need to contact your nomination sources and get their application packets also. Some have very early deadlines, and you'll have a lot to do within a short timeframe, but you're not too late.

Good luck!

Call up the Academy. Get a BGO officer now!!! Its definitely not too late. A friend of ours didn't apply until Nov. and is at Plebe Summer right now. You will have to get going but go for it!! Good Luck!!

PM do you mean American Indian? If so, then yes there are many. If you mean you are from India, then I can't help you. :D

im from India....is it a bad idea to apply?

No not at all...I believe you have to go through your country first and then the American Embassy. That might be the best place to start. Good luck.

Penguinman,

It is not clear whether you are an American citizen. If you are, then there is obviously no problem with applying (the Academy is a big melting pot, too).

If you are a foreign national, the Admissions website says:

International Candidates:

In the interest of international and Navy-to-Navy relations, up to 60 students from certain foreign countries may be enrolled at the academy. The Department of Defense selects and notifies the countries that may nominate candidates. Selection of nominees to attend the academy is made by the Naval Academy International Admissions Board in late April.

If you are not an American citizen, completion of a Preliminary Application is not necessary. Information concerning application procedures for foreign nationals may be requested from the Naval Attache at the U.S. Embassy in your home country.

im a citizen
