Too late to get Accounting Degree?

This is a long story but I will try to keep it short. I made the mistake of taking Computer Science in College, and although I got my degree, my programming skills are average at best. After several failed attempts to get a job in this field I took a job in the Retail sector, where I have worked for several years now. I'm getting sick of this dead-end job (and the pathetic paychecks) and I want a real career.

Last month I got to do some basic accounting work and I'm seriously considering getting a 2nd Degree in Accounting. I've already found three Universities to apply to, and I'm calculating the cost of this education. My main concern is my age. If I get accepted into a University this year, I will be 29 when the Fall Semester starts. I've heard it can take five years to get an Accounting Degree. Is 29 too late to start this?

You need to locate Masters in Accounting programs that are specifically designed for students without an accounting background for undergrad. These programs are typically only 1 year long but should make you eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

I know a list was created awhile back, but I don’t know exactly where. There are quite a few good schools that offer this sort of program. I think the list I saw was about 20 nationally.
