I really screwed up in communiry college and ended up with a 3.18 GPA. I've finally realized the error in my ways and am doing much better in school now. The question is: is it too late to even consider med school?

I konw that it's a very competitive field, and GPAs from my CCC isn't taken into account when calculating UC GPA, but would it be too late for me? I've decided to take all my premed courses at the university if that's any help.

With that said, what grades have you gotten in your premed classes (general or higher up with lab)? If your BCPM (biological, chemistry, physics and math) gpa is around 3.0 you still have a shot at the lower tier med schools (don't let ranking fool you, all US medical schools are very good) provided you have good ECs and an MCAT of 35+ or higher.

If you haven't taken any premed classes at the ccc (Only a few medical colleges like Boston U don't accept community college premed classes) and plan on taking them all after you transfer, you can relax. Chances are you probably won't be able to complete all the classes as an undergrad. It's extremely difficult to squeeze all the premed classes in two years. You can do it if you wish, but you'll have to be extremely dedicated since you've got to squeeze in classes for your major, take all those premed classes (don't forget labs take forever!), study for your MCAT, start getting some clinical experience to add to your med school application, while maintaining a social life as well. You'll be hard pressed for time. Are you planning to get your bachelors if you go this route?

I reccomend just relaxing and doing as many premed courses as you can handle at a time and finishing the rest of the classes you haven't taken with a post-bac program. Take the MCAT after your undergraduate years and spend the time before just gaining clinical experience, or doing research, or shadowing.
