Look at, say, UCSC’s and your local CSU’s policy wrt AP Calc AB credit policy. Usually a 4, sometimes a 3, will get you credit and waive the college requirement.
I wasn’t Implying GT was on your radar. Just making the point that AP Stats doesn’t move the needle for admissions or credit in some schools. Calc would help you more and you’ll have to take it sooner or later if you’re thinking Econ.
I took CSU LB as another example. (Found that they have an Honors Business Program with special networking events like you have for the MBA and special advanced courses in some subjects).
I looked at Supply Chain Management because it’s the most employable major that has little math and “Calc for business” IS required.
Checking out their catalog, a score of 3 gives you only 2 units of Calculus 1, so I’m not sure you’d get the Calc 115 (for business) requirement waived. However at CPP, a 3 on the Calc AB exam gives you full credit for the “Calc for Business” course. (I picked CSU LB and CPP randomly).
Look at your local CSU’s then.
If you want to major in economics (or business), you will probably have to take calculus for the major. You may want to get a slower gentler introduction in AP calculus AB in high school rather than having to dive into it first semester in college.
Thank you all for your advice! I think I will change to AP Calculus and switch from AP Lit to regular English because I don’t think I can handle both of them at the same time.
That would be more useful to prepare you for your chosen major, may yield more benefits in terms of credits/skipping college calc, AND will make more sense to college adcoms.
It’s a good switch.
