Too Many Ivies?

Hey guys, I have stats that are in range for HYPSM and Ivy league schools (2300+, 3.8-4.0 unweighted GPA, great AP test/subj test scores, etc etc), but those schools are high reaches for just about everyone, and my extracurriculars aren't stellar.

I was looking at my college list the other day, and I have 4 Ivies on my list.
Does this seem like too many high reaches? I'm interesting in about 8 other schools besides those 4, but I'm worried that I'm being unreasonably ambitious.
Should I work on cutting down that list of 4 (though I would really prefer not to), or is this normal/okay?

If you feel you can impart attention and detail (i.e. state your case why you’d like to attend) to each app, then there’s no reason not to IMHO. If you feel some are on your list – just to “spread the wealth” and hope for a miracle, then I’d say cut them out. Otherwise, Good luck

The most important part of your list is the safeties–colleges that you are sure you get into, and you are sure your family can afford, and where you think you could be successful and happy for four years. And after that, matches.

Reaches? IMO, if you can afford the application fees, and your high school will support as many applications as you want to send, send 'em. But don’t neglect the safeties and matches.

^Agreed.

The number of Ivies doesn’t matter if you can afford it. Having good safeties and matches is what is important.
