Hi everyone (first post!) I’m currently a sophomore in high school. Many of my classmates will be applying for internships this summer, but I’m almost a year younger than my peers so I won’t meet the age requirement for medical research internships (must be 16 years old for practically all of them). I’ll probably find some other programs to stay productive over the summer but is this going to put me at a disadvantage when it comes to college apps? In other words, when they see that someone else had internships the summer before junior AND senior year and then see that I only had one internship senior year, will they take my age into consideration? I might sound narrow-minded but I do recognize that internships are only a small portion of an application, I’ve just been wondering this for a while.
No. Lack of internship doesn’t necessarily equate to lack of productiveness. However, you should find some productive activity to do. Like volunteering.
