took rice composition exam.....feeling so dumb right now....

So I took this Rice composition exam which determines whether I must take an extra English writing course. Basivally messed up… could not even start conclusion. Well I guess I should have expected with after couple of years away from English and academic environment… Should I be expecting to take that extra writing course? Hahahah what the hell…

It’s ok if you do. My friends who took the intro writing course said it was not that bad and that they learned a lot of basics that were very helpful.

Historically, around 30% of the class comes in with a “non-satisfactory” score. I don’t know if this helps you at all, but I I think they make it difficult for most people on purpose. It is easier to judge incoming students if you don’t have a huge portion all scoring the same (perfect). If you do fail, don’t feel too bad. The test is there to help you and if they deem you “not satisfactory” it doesn’t mean that you are incapable, but rather, that you did not (at the time) possess the particular skills they were interested in. This means that if you have to take FWIS 100, you probably needed it. I have heard that FWIS 100 isn’t bad at all and you will be a better writer because of it (if you did fail.) Writing a conclusion wasn’t easy, either. I don’t think you were the exception in finding the conclusion difficult to write.
