How does a student know if his/her score falls in the top 2-3 % in the country when applying for merit aid?

Go here for chart that states total number for this year’s freshman class (2012 high school seniors) who took test and then broken down by total number per score: http://www.act.org/newsroom/data/2012/pdf/profile/Section2.pdf That is the chart, published by ACT, that will likely be used to determine if you are in top 2-3% when applying for college now and just do the math to determine percentage that have your score or above. It would appear that you would need a composite score of at least 32 or above to be in top 3%.

Thank you Drusba – that is exactly what I was looking for!

32?! I thought that even 31 was at the 98th percentile.

ACT chart is showing 31 at “97” percentile meaning 3% are above 31. Charts going back several years show the same.
